DIRECTOR OF Kerrisdale
Meet Gregg "Gmoji" Sayer, our enthusiastic Academy Director at Steamoji Kerrisdale. Gregg is married with three children and is a former sports tech entrepreneur, a former PAC president/chair, a former digital marketing strategist, a UBC Sauder alum and a prolific - and we mean prolific - Dad Joke dispenser. Ask him about his Great-Uncle, Trevor Wadley, a bonafide genius / Master Maker.
“At Steamoji Kerrisdale, families can count on my commitment that they will always find an academy that is welcoming and full of wonder, fun, flow and laughter. As a father of three children, I am 100% on board with Steamoji’s compelling vision to train the next generation of builders, makers, inventors and entrepreneurs. If I could magically blanket the world with future-facing STEM skills and a growth mindset, I would, but I’m going to first start with 1,700 square feet and a community of bright apprentices right in the heart of beautiful Kerrisdale.”

Why Steamoji Works
"Nice place for developing technical skills in safe and enjoyable learning environment. Our daughter loves it"
"My son loves going to Steamoji. Gregg and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and it has a really nice community feel. Highly recommend!!"
"We loved Steamoji! I would highly recommend to all parents to get your kids busy improving skills, so please visit and try out new things in Steamoji. My son really enjoyed being here , you gain experience, skills and creativity. Staff are really nice and friendly. Always in a friendly, fun and engaging environment with all the kids and loving it!"
"I was looking for a way to supplement the education my daughter receives from her school - specifically STEAM... I've hit gold! This is such a wonderful place for the kids to come and explore, learn and have fun. When you walk through the door, "Gmoji" (the owner) gives the kids a high 5 and is like the fun uncle every kid loves to see. He is exceptionally caring and makes the space so fun for learning. It feels like a home away from home for all of the kids that are working away, solving problems and creating at their stations. There are skilled and wonderful facilitators that help if need be, and kids often help kids! What a community! My daughter (8) and her friend go together twice a week and they love it! They "fixed a robot and used code to get it to pick up Taylor Swift from the moon so she wouldn't miss her concert!" They have used the laser cutter to design bookmarks, coded some sort of device to send each other messages across the room, and are now designing birdhouses with precise measurements. We're only a month in, and the projects are getting more complicated and the girls are really having to push themselves and learn to persevere through the concepts. This place is all about "GROWTH MINDSET", and Gregg makes that very clear when he gives you the walk through. They have access to 3d printers and all sorts of cool gadgets to expand the possibilities of what they can create and learn about. Kids start at "Tinkerer" and work their way through projects to jump to higher and higher rankings (similar to a martial arts belt system). They earn "OJI" coins to spend on some cool things. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend going in for a free trial class and seeing what your child thinks of it. Every friend my daughter has even shown the place wants to take part and begs to be involved so be prepared ;) We're starting a tradition and my daughter loves to scream "GMOJI!!" while I give a little honk every time we see Gregg when we drive by ;)"
"As parents, we believe it's important for kids to not only learn, but also apply what they’re taught—and to fail early and learn from it. Steamoji gives our son the chance to experiment, try new things, and work on fun projects where it's okay to make mistakes. It’s a great way for him to grow and build confidence in his skills."
"Steamoji Kerrisdale and the team there are the best! My son adores it and can't wait to go back every time. I'm also thrilled as I've seen all the incredible things my son is learning that I'm confident will set him up for a bright future. I highly recommend it!!"
"A huge thank you to steamoji Kerrisdale location! My son has been part of this amazing place for almost 3 years. He has gained foundational STEM skills that prepared him to high school. It is truly a well rounded stem program! And it has been so easy to book time around all his other activities. Owner Gregg is super responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this steamoji location!"
"This is a great program for kids who are interested in hands-on science projects. There's a great variety of fun projects."
""My son loves Steamoji. He thinks it's cool and loves learning STEM stuff.""
"Best STEM academy for kids in Vancouver! Steamoji Kerrisdale is hands down the best STEM academy for kids in Vancouver! Their after-school programs span robotics, coding, engineering, and digital arts, providing a comprehensive STEM education. The instructors are exceptional and dedicated, creating a fun, engaging environment that nurtures kids' perseverance, creativity, and problem-solving skills. If you want your children to excel in the digital age and acquire essential skills for the future. Steamoji is the place to be. Highly recommended!"
"This place, from the people, the location, the equipment to the program, is the perfect place for my scientific daughter. She prefers going here over school and hates to miss a single session. She has even calculated how many programs she should finish in order to become a Master Maker. Thank you for having this amazing space for someone like her, Gregg!"
"good new owner, nice customer service. My son love the program very much."
"Steamoji offers a very good program which allows kids to explore STEAM in multiple directions at their own pace in an interactive way. My kid likes it and doesn’t mind sitting there 3 hours in a row working on multiple projects. I wish we could start earlier!"
"Awesome place for kids! I learned a lot about 3D printing, laser cutting, coding, and so much more!"
"Laura was great at explaining how the program works and my child had a great trial run."
"Steamoji is a wonderful place for kids to tinker and learn. The facilitators are awesome and my kids just love going."
"Our 3 kids enjoy their time here, and learn to think about creative problem solving. I like how they record short interviews after each lesson. Thank you!"
"I recommend this new age education focused extracurricular activity, especially enjoyed by my daughter and I’m impressed how fast she is developing in this program."
"If you’d like your kids to get educated in an after school program and have fun at the same time this program is great. My daughter love’s going here."
"Was a great thing to do and I learned so much! the staff are nice too!"
