Build-It! Apprentice Inventor Day is a hands-on PD Day STEAM camp that blends digital design and creative engineering.
In the morning, campers use beginner-friendly 3D design software (TinkerCAD) to design a simple dream castle, which will be 3D printed for later use. A snack break is included.
In the afternoon, campers work in teams to build castles and working catapults, placing cups at the highest point of their castles as targets. Teams launch marbles to knock down opponents’ cups in a fun, friendly battle that builds teamwork and problem-solving skills.
A full day of creativity, building, and STEAM fun!
Morning: Dream Castle Design (8:00–11:00 AM)
Snack Break during this time - around 10:00AM (30 mins)
Campers will use beginner-friendly 3D design software (TinkerCAD) to create a simple but creative dream castle. Designs will focus on basic shapes, towers, and walls to ensure fast print times. Each camper’s castle will be 3D printed and saved for afternoon use.

Loops! Jumps! Hair-pin bends! What's the most exciting roller coaster you can imagine? Now come and come build it. In this camp, apprentices join a team of like-minded engineers to dream up, design and construct a twisty downhill run. They'll turn cardboard, paper, straws and other household materials into a roller coaster... for marbles!
Apprentices will learn every step of the design process as they research, prototype, test and assemble their marble run. By the end of the week they'll have built a fascinating, gravity-defying structure, that combines creativity with their new engineering skills. Let's Get Building!

It’s time for bright ideas! In this camp, Apprentices will work with key STEAM skills to create their own RGB lamp. Using a combination of coding, 3D modeling, 3D printing, and circuit-building, they’ll plan, design, and build a creation straight out of their imagination. During this camp, they’ll take their builds all the way from a pen-and-paper concept to a fully functional light feature, which they can proudly bring home at the end of the week. Let’s get building!
